Monkton Bridge

Monkton Bridge provided access to the town from the west across the branch of the estuary which protected the town on this side.  Pembroke’s original quay was sited here and, although this declined as the two main town quays developed, it remained an important commercial area with its own warehouses and boat yard.

Turn right to continue the Trail across the bridge for a visit to medieval MONKTON.  On your left you will pass ERNIE’S CORNER, a newly refurbished barbeque area, where once was Ernest Jenkins’ Bridgeworks Garage.

Carry straight on to the Library & Information Centre, toilets, children’s playground and car parks.
